On January 23, 2018, the Lieutenant-Governor appointed the following six individuals to the Provincial Information and Library Resources Board for a three year term:
Joan Butler, Beth Maddigan, Barry Roberts, Derrick Sheppard, Linda Whalen, and Shelley Smith.
The provincial board establishes and operates those public libraries in the province that it considers necessary and provides support to ensure that library materials, information and programs are available to meet the needs of the public.
