The Newfoundland and Labrador Film Development Corporation (NLFDC) was formed in 1997 as a crown corporation to promote the development and growth of the film and video industry in Newfoundland and Labrador, and to increase the visibility of Newfoundland and Labrador as a location for film activity. The NLFDC receives an annual grant from the Department of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation for operational, marketing, granting, and program support. This includes promoting the province worldwide as a place to undertake film and video activity, serving as the film and video focal point at all levels, and supporting sector growth using investment and equity capital (Equity Investment Program).
